Overview
Tulum Sorted is a community-maintained local reference for Tulum and the wider Quintana Roo region. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how you can control it.
Information We Collect
- Account information: If you create an account, we collect your email address. Your password is hashed and managed securely by our platform provider. Your account may include a display name and a role (admin or user).
- Saved content: When you save a guide or listing, the bookmark is stored in your browser's local storage. This data stays on your device and is not sent to our servers.
- Submissions: When you submit a new listing, review, correction, update, removal request, or report, we collect the information you provide — including names, contact details, descriptions, and any supporting images. Submissions are stored in a moderation queue and reviewed by an administrator before publication.
- Contact messages: When you use the contact form, we collect your message and your optional email address so we can respond if needed.
- Analytics: We collect anonymous usage data — page views, search queries, article views, category clicks, and session starts — to understand how the site is used and improve it. A visitor identifier and session identifier are stored in your browser to help us distinguish new and returning visitors. Administrator activity is excluded from analytics.
- Cookies: We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
How We Use Your Information
- To review and publish community-submitted listings, corrections, and reports.
- To respond to contact messages and correction requests.
- To understand how visitors use the site and improve content and usability.
- To maintain the accuracy and freshness of listings through community confirmations and reports.
Third-Party Services
Our app is hosted on the Base44 platform, which manages authentication, data storage, and email delivery. Administrators may connect Facebook Pages and Google Sheets accounts for social sharing and data import. These connections are used only by administrators and do not give third parties access to your personal data.
Data Storage
Account information, submissions, contact messages, and analytics data are stored in our platform's secure database. Saved bookmarks are stored locally in your browser and are not transmitted to our servers.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Request access to the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate information.
- Request deletion of your personal data or submissions.
- Withdraw consent for analytics tracking by clearing your browser's local storage.
